- Detecting and flushing out rats with ferrets and Terriers
An important part of our method is working with our Terriers and ferrets. Each animal has its own task, and together they strengthen the way we work. Our Terriers are alert to scent, movement and fresh tracks. They show us where rats are currently hiding or where there has recently been activity. This helps us quickly determine which places need extra attention.
When the situation is suitable, we also use our ferrets. Ferrets can enter rat tunnels and also work very well in, on and around hay and straw bales, wood stacks and other hiding places. Their presence drives rats out of their tunnels or shelters. The rats then start moving and either enter the traps we have placed or encounter one of our Terriers.
This method is especially suitable for locations where rats can easily hide. Examples include yards, rural areas, stables, wood storage areas, bales, sheds, animal enclosures and places with many natural hiding spots. By working with animals that are naturally suited to this task, we can detect and catch rats in a direct and targeted way, without using poison.
